I join my friends and colleagues in mourning the passing of Hanan, and extend my heartfelt condolences to his wonderful family. We were truly blessed to have the good fortune of spending Shabbat dinner with Hanan and family in Yerushalayim only 4 months ago. He impressed us all so much with his gentlemanly manner, his incredible intellect, and his passion for both archeology and ancient Israel and for the wonder of modern Israel as well. May his spirit and knowledge live on through his books, and may his memory be a blessing.

I am so glad that I got the opportunity to meet Hanan, albeit very briefly. His kindness and gentle intelligence shone through the short talk he gave and dinner we shared.
